Welcome to "Capybara Korean" (hereinafter referred to as "the App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
1. Data Collection
1.1 Locally Stored Data
The App stores the following data locally on your device:
- Learning Progress: Korean letters and vocabulary learned, familiarity levels
- Quiz Records: Number of quizzes taken, correct answers, accuracy rate
- Streak Data: Current streak, longest streak, last study date
- Achievement Data: Unlocked achievement badges
- User Settings: Sound effects toggle, daily learning goals, Korean proficiency level
1.2 Data We Do NOT Collect
The App does NOT collect:
- Name, email, or other personally identifiable information
- Account credentials or passwords
- Location data
- Contact information
- Device identifiers (for tracking or advertising purposes)
1.3 Anonymous Usage Analytics
The App uses TelemetryDeck, a privacy-first analytics service, to collect anonymous usage statistics. This helps us understand which features are most popular and improve the App experience.
What is collected:
- Which features you open (e.g., vocabulary, quiz, lyrics)
- General usage patterns (e.g., quiz completion rates, content creation counts)
- App version and iOS version
- Subscription status (free or Pro)
What is NOT collected:
- No personally identifiable information (PII)
- No IP addresses are stored
- No user names, emails, or account data
- No precise location data
TelemetryDeck uses a double-hashing anonymization technique, meaning individual users cannot be identified from the analytics data. No App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt is required because no personal tracking occurs. For more details, see TelemetryDeck's Privacy Policy.
2. How We Use Data
All collected data is used solely for:
- Recording your learning progress
- Tracking your achievements
- Personalizing your learning experience
- Providing learning statistics
3. Data Storage and Security
3.1 Local Storage
All data is stored locally on your device using iOS UserDefaults. We do NOT upload your data to any servers or cloud services.
3.2 Data Retention
Your data remains on your device until you:
- Delete the App
- Manually reset progress in Settings
- Clear app data
3.3 Data Portability
Since data is stored locally only, your learning progress cannot be synced across devices. If you change devices or reinstall the App, your learning records cannot be recovered.
4. Third-Party Services
4.1 Audio Content
The App uses ElevenLabs service to generate Korean pronunciation audio files. These audio files are pre-generated and bundled within the App; no external server communication occurs during use.
4.2 In-App Purchases
The App may offer subscription services (Capybara Pro). Subscription transactions are processed through the Apple App Store. Payment information is managed by Apple, and we do not have access to your payment details.
4.3 Analytics
The App uses TelemetryDeck for anonymous usage analytics. TelemetryDeck is a privacy-focused analytics provider based in the EU (Germany) that is fully GDPR compliant. No personal data or device identifiers are transmitted. See Section 1.3 for details.
4.4 Advertising Services
The App may contain advertisements. If ads are displayed, they will use Google AdMob service. AdMob may collect anonymous usage data to provide relevant advertisements. Please refer to Google's Privacy Policy for more information.
5. Children's Privacy
The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since the App does not require account creation and does not collect personally identifiable information, it is suitable for users of all ages.
6. Changes to Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. We recommend reviewing this policy periodically.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Delete all local data through the "Reset Progress" function in Settings
- Uninstall the App at any time to remove all associated data
- Manage app permissions in your device settings
